What is myopia?
Myopia is nearsightedness and can see well at near but need a prescription to see well at a distance. The number of patients diagnosed with myopia is increasing at an alarming rate and the World Health Organization predicts that by 2050, 50% of the world’s population will be myopic.
One of the main causes of myopia is the increased use in electronic devices and more time is being spent indoors. In future videos, Dr. Kazmi will discuss why we should be concerned by the increase in myopia and what we can do to prevent it.
